Children are a gift from God.
As parents, being part of a loving church family can help you raise your children in the ways of the Lord. It is in this church family that your children will receive love, make friends, grow and even find their purpose.
The Bible says it is an act of obedience by parents to offer their baby to the Lord (Mark 10:13) and a public declaration of their intention as parents to lay a foundation of Godly principles, with an intention to raise their child with Christian values (Deut 6:5-7) and to guide and educate their child in accordance with God’s work.
Baby Dedication Sunday is a day when parents bring their little ones to church to publicly commit to raising them to know, love and serve the Lord and receive a blessing and prayer.
Baby Dedication is NOT a Baptism and it does not impart salvation to the child. Baby Dedications are viewed as a step of obedience on the parent’s part and agreement on the church’s part that together they will play a part in raising the child in a Godly way until the child is old enough to make his/her decision in accepting Christ as his/her personal Saviour. The dedication of Children is taught in the Bible. As a baby, Jesus was dedicated by his parents. Jesus also bestowed blessings on the children. (Mark 10:16)
